Holly, RDMS

HollyI started with Women’s Health Specialists (WHS) officially in 2007, although I initially was an ultrasound student with WHS starting in 2005.  The medical field has always been fascinating to me and I love learning about the human body and how it works. With being a sonographer, I get to have that personal connection with patients but also get to work in the medical field which I enjoy so much.

When I am not at work, I am a busy mom of three boys. The boys keep my husband and I on our toes, to say the least. I am an avid gardener with both fruit and vegetable gardens and I also do a lot of canning.  Along with gardening, I enjoy just being outdoors and watching our boys play sports or hunt and fish.

As sonographers, we get asked about why we encourage our patients to limit the number of people in the room for the exam or why we ask children under the age of six to be accompanied by another adult. We encourage this because we want our patients to have the best experience for their scan.  As the sonographer, I want to make sure that we are able to get the best quality pictures for the physician too, as we are the eyes for the physician.  We try to interact with the patients and let them know what we are looking at.  When there are more people in the room, it becomes more difficult for us to focus on what we need to image.  Each child is different, yet so many kids have a hard time seeing the ultrasound image as a baby or their sibling and hence quickly lose interest.

I really feel lucky to work with so many knowledgeable sonographers. Being a part of this team has really made it easy to work here for so many years, and hopefully many more.
