A Treatable Condition

What Causes Urinary Incontinence?

Urinary incontinence is usually caused by problems with the muscles and nerves that help the bladder hold or pass urine. Certain health events unique to women are common causes of these problems:

  • Pregnancy
  • Childbirth
  • Menopause

Sometimes the incontinence may be temporary and due to other reasons, including certain medicines, excess caffeine, or infection.

Incontinence is not necessarily a natural part of being a woman or aging and its causes are very often treatable. If you're suffering with the challenges of incontinence, reach out to Women's Health Specialists so we can get you on the road to recovery!

You're Not Alone

Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is the most prevalent urinary incontinence condition that impacts approximately one in three women during their lifetime. SUI occurs when urine leakage happens during activities that raise abdominal pressure, like coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercising.

This condition often stems from the weakening of pelvic floor muscles, a process that can occur with age, pregnancy, or specific pelvic floor issues.

Dr. Wagener has begun offering the treatment Bulkamid as an option to help elevate stress urinary incontinence.
