I graduated from the Sonography program at NWTC in 2011, and have been lucky enough to work in OB/GYN my whole career thus far! As I was finishing up high school I knew I wanted to go into the medical field, but had no clue as to what area I was interested in. After talking to one of my swim coaches at the time, I was able to set up a job shadow with her at her job as a nuclear medicine technician. While I was shadowing her, I was also able to shadow one of their sonographers who was working in the radiology department that day. As soon as I started talking with her, I just knew that this field was something I was excited and intrigued by! After finishing the program I got my first job working one day a week at the clinic where I did my OB clinical rotation. Since I was young and just starting my career though, I was on the hunt for a full-time position. About six months after graduating I was able to find a full-time position! I learned so much in those first couple years of my career and was able to gain a lot of experience in the high-risk pregnancy department as well. I have now been at Women’s Health for 8 years, and am proud to be part of such a great team of sonographers! We can provide our physicians with high-quality studies, and our patients can be assured that they are getting the best care around! I love having the ability to be the “eyes” for our physicians when caring for their patients, and hope to be doing this for many years to come!
