Women's Health Specialists - OBGYN Clinic - Doctor and PatientApril is Sexually Transmitted Infection Awareness Month. There are 20 million new STI cases in the US every year. Adding the new cases each year with existing infection, there are an estimated 110 million total STI’s among Americans. Half of all new STI cases are diagnosed between the ages of 15 – 24, however only 12% of young people say they have been tested for STI in the past year.

Undiagnosed STI’s can lead to infertility by scarring the fallopian tubes as well as cause an increased risk of cervical cancer and other health risks.  STI Awareness Month is a great opportunity to remember the importance of STI testing and be proactive about staying healthy!!
