You are not alone. Lots of people struggle with growing their families. Infertility is typically defined as the inability to conceive despite having timed, unprotected intercourse for one year (six months if you are over 35).
If you think you may be struggling with infertility, the first step is to call your OB/GYN here at WHS and schedule an appointment. (If you don’t have an OB/GYN here, welcome to the WHS family! Please call 920-749-4000 and establish care with one of our eight amazing providers. Their bio’s are online and they are all accepting new patients!)
When you meet with your OB doctor, he/she may recommend some baseline testing to try to determine the cause of infertility (female factor, male factor, or both). These often include lab tests to assess hormone levels and ovulation. Additional tests can include semen analysis, ultrasound to exclude uterine abnormalities, and an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) to test for tubal patency. Once initial testing is done, your doctor will tailor a plan of care to your specific needs and refer you to Family Fertility to review that plan of care and start you on your fertility journey.
Sometimes, initiating oral ovulation induction medications is all you need to start you on your way. However, we are able to offer further services as needed, including IUI (intrauterine insemination). We can also work with your Reproductive Endocrinologist if assisted reproductive technology is needed. Whereever your journey takes you, we are here to guide you along the way.
